L'autodeterminazione dei popoli indios, come reclamata dall'Esercito Zapatista di Liberazione Nazionale (EZLN) non è nell'agenda dell'attuale amministrazione federale, perché il tema è "superato" dalle riforme all'articolo 2 della Costituzione federale, introdotte nel 2001, ha affermato il direttore della Commissione per lo Sviluppo dei Popoli Indios (CDI), Xavier Abreu Sierra.<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN><o:p></o:p></SPAN></FONT></FONT></DIV>
<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0cm 0cm 0pt"><SPAN lang=IT style="mso-ansi-language: IT"><FONT size=3><FONT face="Times New Roman">Durante la presentazione del panista Javier Zepeda a delegato statale della CDI, Abreu Sierra ha spiegato che attualmente il governo federale lavora con le camere dei senatori e deputati nella creazione di due leggi "per rendere vigenti ogni giorno i diritti dei popoli indios".<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN><o:p></o:p></FONT></FONT></SPAN></DIV>
<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0cm 0cm 0pt"><SPAN lang=IT style="mso-ansi-language: IT"><FONT size=3><FONT face="Times New Roman">Ha spiegato che questi ordinamenti sono la legge attuativa dell'articolo 2 costituzionale, e la Legge Nazionale di Consultazione per i Popoli e Comunità Indigene.
