Share Prize 2011 - Piemonte Share

Piemonte Share is announcing a new edition of the *Share Prize*, the 
international competition designed to discover, promote and support art 
in the digital age.

Entries for the Share Prize can be submitted from *25th June *to *20th 
August 2011*, by completing the entry form on the website www.toshare.it.

The competition is open to both Italian and foreign artists.

The Share Prize this year will focus on the theme for the 7th Share 
Festival, entitled */Cops & Robbers/.*

The theme takes its inspiration from the use of *appropriationism*, 
*activism *and *plagiarism *in art, which today has turned *fakes*, 
*mash ups* and *remixes *into an avant-garde artistic stance that flirts 
with what customarily is the wrong side of the law. A theme that fits 
perfectly with the sort of ‘networking’ that, ever since its beginnings, 
has straddled the dialectical line between legality and illegality, 
between theft and giving, between openness and closure, between 
intellectual property and sharing, and hence between widespread 
participation and a position of dominance.

An international jury will short-list six finalists for the prize, who 
will be invited to take part in the 7th Share Festival, to be held in 
Torino from *2nd* to*6th November 2011*, at the Regional Museum of 
Natural Science. The winner will receive a cash prize of EUR 2,500.00.

The names of the short-listed finalists (maximum six nominees) will be 
announced by the end of August 2011.

The entrants short-listed for the prize will be invited to take part in 
the 7th Share Festival, to be held in Torino from *2nd* to *6th November 
2011*, at the Regional Museum of Natural Science.

Piemonte Share annuncia la nuova edizione di *Share Prize*, un concorso 
internazionale che ha lo scopo di scoprire, promuovere e sostenere 
l'arte in epoca digitale.

Dal *25 giugno* fino al *20 agosto 2011* è possibile iscriversi al 
Premio, utilizzando il form di registrazione presente sul sito 
www.toshare.it.

Il premio, è aperto a tutti gli artisti italiani e stranieri.

Il premio quest’anno verterà sull’argomento della 7° edizione di Share 
Festival dal titolo */
Cops & Robbers/.*

Il tema si ispira a pratiche artistiche come l'*appropriazionismo*, 
l'*interventismo*, il *plagiarismo*, che possono essere lette in una 
chiave che oggi fa del *fake*, *mash up *e *remix *un'estetica che 
sconfina in espressioni artistiche di frontiera e nel superamento delle 
consuetudini della legalità. Una tematica che si inserisce perfettamente 
con quel “fare rete” che fin dall’inizio ha implicato una dialettica tra 
legalità e illegalità, tra il furto e il dono, tra apertura e chiusura, 
tra la proprietà intellettuale e la condivisione e quindi tra 
partecipazione allargata e posizione dominante.

Una Giuria internazionale selezionerà 6 candidati al premio, che saranno 
invitati a partecipare alla 7° edizione di Share Festival, che si 
svolgerà a Torino dal *2* al *6 novembre 2011 *al Museo Regionale di 
Scienze Naturali. Il vincitore riceverà un premio in denaro di Euro 2.500.

Entro fine agosto 2011 saranno resi noti i nomi degli artisti finalisti 
(una short list di massimo 6 concorrenti).

I candidati al premio saranno invitati a partecipare alla 7° edizione di 
Share Festival, che si svolgerà a Torino dal*2* al*6 novembre 2011* al 
Museo Regionale di Scienze Naturali.
