Ciao a tutti,
volevo segnalare questo evento che si terrà a Roma il 17 e il 18
Dicembre (Giovedì e Venerdì prossimi) presso la sede dello IED in via
Alcamo 11 e che sarà dedicata al tema del Futuro.
Durante le due giornate interverranno diversi personaggi legati al
mondo dell'arte, della letteratura e della tecnologia; da Frédéric
Migayrou, curatore Architettura e Design del Centre Pompidou di Parigi
a Derrick de Kerchove (vecchia conoscenza della lista :-) e Direttore
del McLuhan Program a Toronto.
Insieme ad altri saranno presenti anche Greyworld, Niccolò Ammaniti,
Tommaso Pincio e Giorgio Vasta; Domitilla Dardi e Patrizia Di
Costanzo, Andrea Natella, con Antonio Caronia, Arnaldo Funaro ed
Enrico Bonafede.
Insieme a Nasonero presenteremo l'installazione sonora e interattiva
'Words' di Greyworld, si tratta di un'azione che si svolgerà allo IED
di via Alcamo e durante la quale le persone che vorranno partecipare
potranno contribuire alla construzione di un paesaggio sonoro
costitutito dalle parole pronunciate e 'collegate' da tutti i
partecipanti.
'Words' è stata creata per il Free thinking Festival ed è stata
commissionata originariamente dalla BBC Radio.
Quella che noi presenteremo durante Pubblicamente è un adattamento
fatto apposta per l'evento organizzato dallo IED.
Spero che ci passiate a trovare; per tutti coloro che non potranno
essere fisicamente allo IED il 17 ma che desiderassero partecipare
all'installazione, potete seguire il making dell'installazione e
partecipare lasciandoci la vostra parola, tramite Flicker e Twitter.

sala principale dell'Istituto Europeo di Roma, nella sede di via Alcamo.

>GREYWORLD

Fondato da Andrew Shoben nel 1993, Greyworld è un collettivo di
artisti riconosciuto a livello mondiale. Il loro lavoro artistico si
esprime attraverso l’installazione, la scultura e i multipli. Il loro
obiettivo principale è quello di creare arte pubblica che coinvolga
l’essere umano in un contesto urbano.
Greyworld ha creato opere in alcuni degli spazi più ambiti a livello
mondiale, e al momento possiede installazioni permanenti in dodici
nazioni. Nel 2004 ha realizzato The Source (La Fonte), una
installazione permanente per la Borsa di Londra, che inaugura
l’apertura del mercato ogni mattina. The Source è stata inaugurata
dalla Regina Elisabetta II in persona ed è ammirata da milioni di
persone ogni giorno attraverso le televisioni di tutto il mondo.
L’anno passato Greyworld ha inaugurato Invisible (Invisibile),
un’opera di dimensioni eccezionali e sviluppata su più spazi in
Burnley nel Regno Unito, con il supporto di Big Art Project di Channel
Four.
Il documentario che accompa l’opera è stato trasmesso su Channel 4.
Andrew è solito apparire in televisione, alla radio o sulla carta
stampata e e si occupa di formazione a livello internazionale.
Dopo aver insegnato al Royal College of Art per quattro anni, è
diventato Professore di Arte Pubblica alla Goldsmiths University.

>DESCRIZIONE EVENTO E PROGRAMMA

Nell'anno in cui ricorre il centenario del Futurismo, l'Istituto
Europeo di design di Roma propone di tornare a parlare di Futuro con
lo sguardo rivolto in avanti anziché al passato, verso un orizzonte
abbastanza ampio da abbracciare le molte urgenze del nostro tempo, ma
con i piedi ben saldi nel territorio in cui viviamo.
Futuro è una parola chiave capace di far emergere alcune delle
questioni centrali ed urgenze della contemporaneità, e di definire un
primo bacino di indagine sul territorio concreto della città, ma anche
su quello vasto degli ambiti creativi in cui si muove l'Istituto -
moda, design, arti visive, comunicazione - per individuare ulteriori
percorsi di ricerca da sviluppare negli anni a venire, in cui
elaborare e sperimentare soluzioni e visioni senza le quali non è
possibile immaginare o costruire il domani. Queste le premesse da cui
nasce PUBBLICAMENTE 2009_RITORNO AL FUTURO, che si svolgerà lungo
l'arco di due giornate, il 17 e il 18 dicembre 2009, e comprenderà una
serie articolata di eventi espositivi e performativi dedicati al
design, alla comunicazione e alle arti visive, che si alterneranno a
conferenze, reading di scrittori, speach dedicati al futuro, in cui
saranno chiamati a dire la propria sul Futuro, intellettuali delle più
svariate provenienze.

Per l'occasione il festival "Videominuto" presenterà una selezione di
video dagli ultimi festival sul tema del futuro. La proiezione dei
video sarà in loop su tutti i monitor delle due sedi dello IED, per
tutte e due le giornate dell'evento.
Nei due giorni di eventi Ivana Carmen Mottola di Foodhouse ci guiderà
in into.the.wonderBox, un viaggio tra i sapori e odori del Futuro,
allestendo nelle due sedi due eventi di food design.

On Thursday 17th of December Greyworld will install 'Words' in the
entrance hall of the IED, European Institute of Design in Rome, Italy.

Participate in the installation by coming to see us and add your
'future' word to the acustic landscape generated by Greyworld.

Join us online and participate by tweeting the word you want to take
with you in the future: simply tweet "word @futureinthebox" by
replacing 'word' with that that of your choice; one of our actors will
personally record it and add t to the installation.

Founded by Andrew Shoben in 1993, Greyworld is a world renowned
artists' collective that create art in public spaces. Their work finds
expression through the mediums of installation, sculpture and
multiples. Their primary objective is to create public art that
involves the human in an urban context.
Greyworld has created works in some hugely coveted locations across
the world, and they now have permanent installations in twelve
countries. In 2004 they launched The Source, a permanent installation
for the London Stock Exchange that opens the markets every morning. It
was unveiled by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and is watched by
millions everyday on television around the world.
Last year greyworld launched Invisible, a large scale and multi-sited
work in Burnley UK with the support of Channel Four's Big Art Project.
The documentary to accompany the artwork is due to be aired on Channel
4 in May 2009. Andrew is a regular contributor to television, radio
and print, and lectures extensively around the world. After
lecturing at the Royal College of Art for four years, he became
Professor of Public Art at Goldsmiths University. More information at:

>ABOUT WORDS
-
"Words" is an installation commissioned by the BBC for the Free
thinking Festival, in Gateshead, UK.Visitors to the installation space
are requested to think of a word. Any word at all. They are handed a
white cube, which they hold. As they speak their word in to the box,
the box begins to glow with a gentle blue light.They are then invited
to explore what appears to be a large empty space, delineated by a red
line around its edges. As they wander off in to this area they realise
that in fact, invisible to the eye, there is a rich sonic environment
to explore, full of words that are nestling amongst trees, flitting
around pools of water, or hiding out in caves.Some of these words live
here permanently, and some have been dropped by people walking through
the space. If the visitor wants to do this, they simply tip over their
box, the light drains away, and their word falls out, living in that
area for several hours, for others to discover.. When they are done,
they return the box, to be filled by another word.
>EVENT DESCRIPTION

The European Institute of Design intends to mark the Centenary of the
Publication of Marinetti's Futurist Manifesto by dedicating the first
edition of Pubblicamente to the theme of Future. This two day event
will take place on the 17th and the 18th of December 2009. It will
comprehend an articulate series of exhibitions and performative events
dedicated to design, communication and visual arts; in addition to all
this there will be conferences, reading of writers. Intellectuals from
a variegate background will be invited to join a speech about the
Future and share their visions with the audience.

The Festival "Videominuto" will present a selection of the latest
videos from the latest festival which deal with the theme of the
future. The broadcasting of videos will be on loop on all monitors
from the two campuses of the school, for the all duration of the event.
Ivana Carmen Mottola from Foodhouse will lead us in
into.the.wonderBox, an exploration of flavours and fragrances of the
Future; two events of Food Design will be set up for the all duration
of the event.
